new grafton bridge

This $240 million project involved building an additional 525-metre bridge 70 metres downstream from the existing road and rail bridge. The project also included upgrading parts of the road network in Grafton and South Grafton to connect the new bridge to the existing road network. The new bridge consists of two lanes but was designed to be increased to four lanes when traffic levels require it.

Engaged by Fulton Hogan to provide traffic staging designs to enable the traffic movement around the complex construction areas of the Grafton Town Centre and the extremely busy Pacific Highway, prior to the Grafton Bypass, Caddmandu delivered the staging designs for the project throughout the course of the construction phase.

Our role included the development of staging concepts to ensure traffic flow disruptions were kept to a minimum, ensure that proposed changes in traffic routes were feasible and ensure access was maintained to all local businesses at all times. Coordination with utility services, such as electricity, Telstra, gas and water was also paramount to the final staging design outcomes, to ensure the relocation of these services during construction was kept to a minimum.
