Foxground & Berry Bypass
Caddmandu was contracted by Fulton Hogan to provide the Staging and Temporary Works design for the entire project. Our involvement started at the same time as the final detail design of the project. This meant we were able to work hand in hand with the design consultants to influence the final design outcomes dues to staging constraints and requirements. The final design was altered in a number of locations so that the temporary works could be built. Our space-proofing proved invaluable for a successful project outcome.
The way the design processes developed on this project was that the temporary works were designed in conjunction with the permanent works. This was a groundbreaking approach which we consider to be the best available. Caddmandu designed all of the temporary traffic switches for this project, along with the majority of the associated temporary works for piling pads for bridges, temporary lay down and compound areas and provided assessments for construction site access for oversized vehicles. We also provided design support to the construction team for the duration of the project.
DETAILS of project
The Foxground and Berry bypass provides a four-lane highway (two lanes in each direction) with median separation for 12.5 kilometres of the Princes Highway.
It spans between Toolijooa Road and just south of Andersons Lane.
The upgrade included a bypass of the existing winding highway at Foxground and a bypass of Berry with access ramps at the north and south of the town.
This was the second in a three stage project to upgrade the Princes Highway between Gerringong and Bomaderry.
