The Northern Road / Stage 3

The Northern Road project was the most challenging we have worked on. To keep the traffic moving we designed the necessary roads, all according to Transport for NSW safety and engineering standards of permanent roadways. It was a brownfields project to upgrade existing roads and infrastructure and we had to move utilities, water and communications, to add extra lanes. We also had to consider traffic movements on side roads and make space for the construction, the site and all the associated materials and equipment.

This was a very complex project driven by a constantly changing construction program. This meant that many designs had to be altered due to forces beyond our control and often beyond the constructor's control. Our work involved the design and engineering of suitable temporary conditions for road users during the construction period of the project.
